About
Beliefs
I believe in a systemic approach to practice, meaning that I believe we are all deeply impacted by our relationships with each other and our experiences within societal systems.
It’s important to me to work from a place of continual learning around what it means to move through this world as a white, hetero, cisgender, woman of non-standard size and to continually show up in the work of dismantling the oppressive systems entrenched in white supremacy, capitalism, and patriarchy.
I believe this collective liberation can be found through active involvement in social justice and also by healing in safe connections, like in the spaces therapy can create.
Background
My name is Amanda Weigle (she/her), and I am a licensed psychotherapist practicing in the state of Washington (#LW60517909). I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2007 from Loyola University Chicago, a program with a focus on clinical (therapeutic) work.
I have a background working in different community mental health settings providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and elders. I have worked in hospitals, group residential placements for the Department of Children and Family Services, and outpatient clinics. I also worked overseas in rural communities as a Peace Corps volunteer from 2010-2012. Since moving to the Seattle area in 2015, I’ve been working with Native communities providing mental health therapy, primarily to adults (ages 18-75), specializing in trauma related to experiences of abuse and harm (including intimate partner violence, trafficking, sexual violence, and emotional/verbal/spiritual/cultural abuse).
