Area of focus

Individual Therapy

Currently, I am providing therapy services to adults (any person age 18 or above). I do not work with children/families or couples/intimate partners; however, I would be happy to provide a referral.

Therapy can help address many of the things that can cause stress and disconnection in our lives. The areas of focus in my practice include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Grief

  • Trauma (Complex, Single episode)

  • Emotional pain from experiences of oppression (including but not limited to racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, sizeism, ageism, classism, and etc.)

  • Transitions in Life (life stage/developmental, work or school related, environmental changes/relocation, and more)

  • Relationship Conflict or Concerns (friendships, romantic partnerships, family of origin, co-workers, etc.)

  • Low Self Esteem/Self Worth

  • Sleeping Difficulties/Disruption

  • Body Image

  • Burnout/Over Functioning

Approach

My approach to therapy centers around the belief that building a compassionate therapeutic relationship is key. Creating a space where someone is free from judgment is really important for a solid foundation to do the healing work. From there, we can begin to understand together what is happening in the mind and body in response to what you have experienced in your life and what might be causing stress or difficulties in your day to day. We can also work together to identify and develop tools for wellness that may be helpful for your individual needs and goals.

Often times, in a more medical model form of therapy there is a focus on the negative or symptoms (things people might consider as being “wrong with them”), but I take more of a strengths based and trauma informed approach. Meaning that it can be more helpful to view our patterns of thoughts, feelings, or behaviors as learned ways of survival and as a person doing their best with what they have in a given moment. Working together we can explore what is helpful and what might be needed for feeling more connected to yourself and getting to experience more fulfillment.

I typically will integrate components of different theories and interventions (hence the name “Integrative Therapy Services”) because there isn’t just one approach that works for everybody; each person is unique in what works best for them. Modalities I use include Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Therapies (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness practices, and Internal Family Systems parts work. I am also currently in training as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) clinician. However, you are the expert of your story, strengths, and needs; together we can create a plan but you set the goals and pace at which we work the plan. It would be an honor to get to be part of your healing process.
